Hello Everybody!
|
My name is Lindsey Kuehl and I am a biology student at the University of Oregon. I aspire to be an optometrist and an advocate for global health. I enjoy trying new foods, speaking Spanish, reading, playing volleyball and outdoor recreation activities, especially hiking and backpacking. I was bitten by the travel bug years ago and can’t seem to get enough of exploring and learning about different cultures, new beliefs and most of all getting to know and understandthe people. I love my family, my friends and my life. For the opportunities I have been given and because I am compassionate by nature, I wish to give back.

Last summer I had the opportunity to study in México. Fue una experiencia increíble! Undoubtedly my time in México was filled with many adventures, great food and great people. Los Niños y Niñas de México is an organization that provides a positive environment for children that would normally be on the streets. I learned so much from my host family, especially my warm-hearted host mother, and the children at Los Niños y Niñas de México. My time volunteering further opened my eyes to the critical needs of our world and triggered a strong desire to continue volunteering. I intend to continue similar work in developing countries or economically depressed areas of the United States for a month or more every year.

This leads me to my next expedition. I am officially a Unite For Sight volunteer and I will be spending a month and a half in Honduras. I am extremely excited and proud to be part of the Unite For Sight team. Unite For Sight is an organization devoted to giving high quality eye care to all and is the world’s leader in providing care to the world's poorest people. While in Honduras I will be working in a traveling eye clinic to screen for eye disease, implementing education programs, providing glasses and coordinating sight-restoring surgery for children and adults.
Thank-you Sisters With Wings for you time and support. Your generosity is making a positive difference in my life and in the world.
With love and high hopes,
Lindsey Kuehl
